Despite being located in the state where basketball is life, the Indiana Pacers have yet to win an NBA title. For some reason, the Pacers constantly seem to peak as a team just when a dynasty was formed. For example, Indiana’s most successful years came in the late 90s when Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls were on the prowl and most recently when the Miami Heat ruled the Eastern Conference. Luckily, several great SGs have passed through Indiana.

During the Indiana Pacers’ ABA years, Billy Keller played a major role in the organization capturing three ABA championships in the early 1970s. Keller is highly renowned as the originator of the three-point shot, as it was introduced just two years prior to his rookie year. Today, Keller sits amongst the ABA’s leaders for total three-pointers converted, with a grand total of 506.

Lance Stephenson is an interesting case, mainly because he began his career in Indiana cemented to the bench. Often times, Stephenson was instructed not to even bother dressing for the game. Well, in the past two seasons, Stephenson erupted both in his play and on-court and off-court tactics. Last year, Stephenson was snubbed from the All-Star game, but his season paid off as he inked a hefty three-year, $ 27 million deal with Charlotte.

Today, Paul George is technically a small forward; however, when he first entered the league, the majority of his playing time came at the shooting guard position. Eventually, due to injuries to Danny Granger and George’s emergence, he became the full-time small forward, but even before that, he served as a lockdown defender on opposing guards. Now, we just hope that his broken leg does not cause his game to experience any drop-off whatsoever.

Regarded as one of the greatest Pacers of all time, Billy Knight had two stints in Indiana, both of which he found success. Drafted by the Pacers, Knight’s two best years came in the 1975-76 and 1976-77 seasons. In these seasons, Knight appeared in consecutive All-Star games averaging an eye-popping 27.4 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. It is also worth noting that he currently places third on the Pacers’ all-time scoring list.

There really is no competition to dethrone Reggie Miller as the greatest shooting guard in Indiana Pacers history. Miller led the Pacers to their sole NBA Finals appearance under the tutelage of Larry Bird and held the record for most three-pointers made for nearly a decade. The five-time All-Star and member of the 50-40-90 club is widely declared one of the best pure shooters in NBA history. This man is clearly a legend.
