Even though the 2014-15 NBA season is still a couple of months away, there’s no reason not to look ahead at what’s to be expected. The Milwaukee Bucks are coming off the worst season in franchise history, which means the only direction to go is up. There’s plenty of optimism surrounding the team with new head coach Jason Kidd at the helm. Here’s a look at a prediction for Kidd’s rotation this upcoming season.

Point Guard: Brandon Knight

The Bucks are optimistic that point guard Brandon Knight can be their guy going forward. Even though Knight has plenty of work to do, he showed enough potential last season to give Milwaukee enough reason to believe head coach Jason Kidd can get him on track in 2014-15. One of the main reasons there is confidence in Knight is because he posted career numbers across the board last season.

Some believe O.J. Mayo will start at shooting guard, but I am one of the few who is convinced this role belongs to second-year player Giannis Antetokounmpo. There’s no question he’ still in the learning stage, which could be a cause for concern. With that said, I believe it’s important to get Antetokounmpo as much playing time as possible, especially with youngsters Knight and Jabari Parker by his side.

Small Forward: Jabari Parker

It may be somewhat of a shock if Parker starts right off the bat in his rookie season. However, I think it will be good for him to do so. He showed enough talent in the summer league to give him a shot in a starting role. Not to mention, the Bucks like his solid effort and desire to win. These are great attributes to have in a young player, which is why he must start immediately.

Power Forward: Ersan Ilyasova

Kidd has suggested playing Parker at power forward, but I believe that role will belong to Ersan Ilyasova. Unfortunately, Ilyasova had a down year last season. That’s to be expected when the team consistently lost and posted the worst record in franchise history. The hope is that Ilyasova will feel rejuvenated with a new coaching staff and optimistic players around him.

Center: Larry Sanders

After signing a large contract, Larry Sanders completely disappointed the franchise by getting into a fight in a Milwaukee nightclub and tearing a ligament in his thumb, which forced him to miss 25 games. He then fractured his right orbital bone, which made him miss the rest of the season. On top of that, he was suspended five games for testing positive for marijuana. Still, the Bucks have insisted he’ll be their center in 2014-15.

Sixth Man: O.J. Mayo

It might be surprising to see Mayo listed as Milwaukee’s sixth man. However, I believe that if he can get his offensive game going, something that can make him a very dangerous player, and rekindle the will to win, he should have no problem succeeding in this role. In fact, it’s the Bucks’ sixth man that could define who they are in 2014-15. The reason for that is because the Bucks will need the help of their veterans off the bench.
