Although they have not experienced much success recently, the Atlanta Hawks have been in the NBA since 1946 and have a very decorated history, which includes some very special players who have played the small forward position. Here are the top five small forwards in Atlanta Hawks history.

Childress was the definition of efficiency. In three out of his four seasons with the Hawks, he averaged a 50 percent clip or higher from the field, including an absurd 57 percent mark during the 2007-08 season. In addition to being known for his huge afro, Childress was a respected defender and was always a threat to get inside and score with ease thanks to his athleticism. It is too bad that his career went downhill once he left in '08.

4. Cliff Hagan (1956-1966)

Hagan played for the Hawks when they were located in St. Louis. Although he only stood at 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, Hagan was a great scorer who shot a high percentage from the field while also averaging at least 20 PPG or better four seasons in a row at one point. He also recorded three straight seasons of 10.0 RPG or better for the Hawks.

3. John Drew (1974-1982)

A high-octane scorer who also had a knack for getting into foul trouble (averaging an absurd 3.6 FPG for his career), Drew was a physical, no-nonsense forward who was an elite scorer during his day. Although he was a little turnover-prone, he was a reliable shooter for the Hawks who could get hot in a hurry.

2. Lou Hudson (1966-1977)

"Sweet Lou" Hudson was known as a dynamite scorer who was a leader for the Hawks for over a decade. He was one of the best shooters of his day as well as a great passer and menace on defense. He is not only considered one of the best Hawks players of all time, but also one of the best small forwards ever.

Wilkins, a nine-time NBA All-Star and Slam Dunk Champion, is the best player to ever wear a Hawks uniform. His God-gifted mix of athleticism and ability to score the ball was simply something to behold. He averaged at least 30 PPG or better in two of his seasons while becoming one of the most feared players in the NBA. There may never be another player like 'Nique ever again.
