Perhaps the Denver Nuggets' most storied position, they have boasted some of the best small forwards to have ever played the game. From ABA greatness to modern-day superstars, see who makes up the five best to ever put on a Nuggets jersey.

Simpson is about as old-school as it gets when talking about the Nuggets. He played six years for the team when they were still in the ABA and still called the Rockets. He is Denver’s all-time ABA scoring leader and leads the ABA franchise in field goals made and attempted, free throws made and attempted, assists and steals. He was named to First Team ABA All-Pro team in 1975-76 and twice named to Second Team ABA All-Pro team.

Williams played for the Nuggets for 5.5 seasons in the early 90s and was a central figure in their surprising upset of the No. 1 seed Sonics in 1994. In Denver, Williams averaged 14.2 PPG, 4.6 RPG and 2.6 APG. Williams was slight in stature, but he played up to his nickname, Silk, with his smooth jumper and ability to drive to the rim. He made the game look effortless.

Natt was one of the best scorers on one of the best scoring teams in NBA history. During his five seasons as a Nugget, he averaged 17.2 PPG, 6.9 RPG and 2.2 APG. Natt had an unusual desire to own and operate a mortuary following his playing career, which he now does in the Denver area. He was always a fan favorite and earned a trip to the 1985 All-Star game, alongside a who’s who list of future Hall-of-Famers.

I always say that had Carmelo stuck around, he would have become one of the most endeared sports figures in Denver history across all sports. But he opted for the bright lights of the Big Apple and hasn’t nearly approached the success he had early in his career as a Nugget. Over his eight seasons in Denver, he averaged 24.8 PPG, 6.3 RPG and 3.1 APG. He will go down as one of the best scorers in NBA history when it’s all said and done.

In an era of offensive domination, English was one of the best scorers in the league. He is the Nuggets' all-time leading scorer by a wide margin. He also leads the franchise in total games and minutes played, field goals and offensive rebounds. He probably goes down as the best Denver Nuggets player of all time and is a no-brainer for the top spot.
