Jamal Mashburn was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks with the fourth pick in the 1993 NBA Draft. As part of the "Triple J's" with Jason Kidd and Jim Jackson, Mashburn led one of the premiere up-and-coming teams in the league. Mashburn’s highlight as a Maverick came when he scored 50 points in a game against the Chicago Bulls. After missing 64 games in the 1995-1996 season, Mashburn was traded early in the following season to the Miami Heat.

Before becoming a journeyman around the league, Jay Vincent spent the first five seasons of his NBA career with the Dallas Mavericks. Vincent was a member of the All NBA Rookie Team during the 1981-1982 campaign, averaging 21 points per game in his first season. He also helped make the Mavericks a perennial playoff team in the 1980s, before being traded to the Washington Bullets in 1986.

Drafted by the Mavericks in 2003, Josh Howard quickly rose to prominence as the team’s premiere wing. By his fourth season, Howard was an All-Star, averaging 20 points and seven rebounds per game in 2007. As injuries slowed him down, the Mavericks fell from a championship contender to a first-round punching bag. As his health deteriorated, Howard was traded to the Washington Wizards in 2010, last playing in the league in 2013.

Shawn Marion signed a five-year, million deal with the Mavericks in 2009. At the time, Marion’s stock had dipped quite a bit around the league since being traded from the Phoenix Suns just over a year prior. Marion found himself serving as the defensive ace of the Mavericks, most notably when they won the championship in 2011. Recently, Marion left the Mavericks after five successful seasons, joining the Cleveland Cavaliers this offseason.

With plenty of hype, and an excellent all-around offensive game, Mark Aguirre was made the first pick in the 1981 NBA Draft. Aguirre led the Mavericks throughout the 1980s, and along with Rolando Blackmon, Sam Perkins, Roy Tarpley and Derek Harper, nearly landed the Mavericks in the 1988 NBA Finals before losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games. Aguirre is a three-time All-Star, and is one of the team’s all-time leading scorers.
