Metta World Peace Blog: Bridging the Language Barrier with Basketball
In the sports world, there is only one language: visual communication through movement and repetition.
One of the first things I did in China was to spend some time on the court with the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association. Although our speaking ability between each other was limited, the language of basketball brought me closer to understanding the players. It was as if our other senses were strengthened because we focused on the common denominator: sports.
This experience is adding to both my professional career and my personal life abroad.
