The Rockets sort of lived up to expectations last season after acquiring Dwight Howard. Their regular season success didn't translate to the playoffs as they were eliminated in the first round by Portland. These are 5 realistic expectations for Houston entering the 2014-15 season.

Even with the losses of Chandler Parsons, Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik, the Rockets still have a very strong team which, of course is centered around the great duo of James Harden and Dwight Howard. They are possibly the best one-two punch in the league today. There's no reason that the Rockets shouldn't win 50 games again.

Dwight Howard had on off year a couple years ago as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers and he rebounded to have a pretty good year last year with Houston. We all know he's capable of being a whole lot better. I expect him to return to his dominance this season and prove he's still the best big man in the league.

When Harden was traded to Houston he became a superstar in just a couple of weeks. Proving to everyone that he is one of the best scorers and play makers in the league. I guess playing alongside Kevin Durant a couple of years does help. Harden will need to be a top 5 MVP candidate to help the Rockets this year.

A year after being easily beaten by the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round I think the Rockets will figure it out the second time around. The loss of Parsons was huge but Trevor Ariza will fill that void nicely and I expect the Rockets to advance past the first round this season.

The last few seasons the Rockets have made it known that they love shooting the three ball. The Rockets lost a couple of their shooters in Parsons and Lin. More Parsons than Lin. They still have Harden and Francisco Garcia who is a very good shooter. And with the additions of Jason Terry and Trevor Ariza, don't expect a shortage of 3-point attempts this season.
