Oklahoma City Thunder: 5 Realistic Expectations For 2014-15 Season

Kevin Durant is coming off of an amazing 2013-14 season, and it is difficult to imagine him putting together a better year than that. However, the Oklahoma City Thunder will need him to show off his greatness if they want to win a championship. Scott Brooks certainly has thoughts of a title for this team, but here are five more realistic expectations for the Thunder and their reigning MVP.

I cannot justify predicting that OKC will make it to the NBA Finals again because we still don't know just how good the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers are going to be. Durant and company should make it back to the Conference Finals, though, and will probably get eliminated there once again.

4. KD Will Lead the League in Scoring

He will not win the MVP because there will be a lot of emotional voters out there who want to see LeBron James win it after returning home. However, KD will light up the scoreboard, and he should lead the league in both scoring and efficiency.

3. Russell Westbrook Will Play Every Single Game

For all of the bad things I've written about Russell Westbrook's game, his durability when he first entered the league was without compare. He has had some injury trouble lately, but this season will be different.

2. Scott Brooks Will Say Farewell

Thunder management will give him one more season to develop a little offensive imagination, which shouldn't be that hard with this roster. If they do not win it all this year, however, then they have to roll the dice on a new coach, as Durant could leave in 2016.

Yes, the Thunder won't make it to the NBA Finals, but I do think they should be able to lead the Western Conference in regular season wins. That would give them a real shot at delivering the franchise its first title in their current uniforms. I will never forget you, Seattle.
