Why NBA 2K Day Is Pretty Much a National Holiday

Today, the newest edition of the popular video game series of NBA 2K dropped. For a long time during the 2000s, it was a neck-and-neck race between 2K and NBA Live. But over the last few years, 2K has taken the cake in terms of the competition.

NBA 2K15 features Kevin Durant on its cover. Outside of LeBron James, Durant is the biggest basketball star in the world so it makes sense for him to finally grace the cover for the people of 2K. These games have only become better and more realistic over time. Although, just like every game, there are certain bugs and weird glitches from time to time, mostly the 2K games do an excellent job maintaining their realism.

The best feature the game has added recently is its “Player Mode”, where you can experience what it is like to be drafted into the NBA and watch your career progress right before your eyes. The franchise mode remains excellent, where you can customize your team, complete trades with other organizations, schedule scouting trips to see prospects for the upcoming draft and play as your team whenever you choose to.

With a soundtrack constructed by Pharrell Williams and the expectations of even better gameplay and graphics moving forward each year, the 2K series has simply become a national holiday for NBA die-hard fans everywhere.

Whichever system you have, I would urge you to at least check it out if you have not yet. There is a reason NBA 2K14 was nominated for 70 “Game of the Year” awards last year, and it is exciting to imagine just how vastly improved this new version will be.
