Fans Wrongly Read Into Gordon Hayward’s Better Than LeBron James Comments
If Gordon Hayward and LeBron James played one-on-one, according to Hayward he would win. He even went as far as saying that he could take down five of the best players the NBA had to offer. The catch is all of this is that Hayward wasn’t talking about his skills on the basketball court; he was talking about his talents in the popular computer game League of Legends.
At first glance fans were baffled when they read this tweet:
If I played @KingJames 1-on-1, I’d crush him. My new blog on why I’m the best in the game: http://t.co/JstMVmubBl pic.twitter.com/svA2tay0Cj
— Gordon Hayward (@gordonhayward) October 14, 2014
Personally, I think that Hayward’s tweet was gold when it comes to marketing and production. His goal in all of this was to promote his blog and to get NBA fans riled up and talking about his tweet. Well guess what, he has succeeded in his goal. Hayward should win the award for the best trolling act of the year, because after his tweet, he announced that his website had crashed because all of the traffic on his page.
I’m sure Hayward is winning over many fans with his recent tweet about James and his ability to beat him mano a mano. Even though James is back with the Cleveland Cavaliers, he still has a lot of haters and a lot of people who are hoping for him to fail. By Hayward taking a shot at James, even though it was harmless, it still gave James haters a good laugh. After his tweet, I’m all aboard the Hayward bandwagon; any athlete who plays video games, connects with the fans and takes jabs at James is a favorite of mine.
If Hayward is looking for a job post-basketball, I recommend a position on the PR and business side of things; he’d be great.
