The preseason has not even been completed, and yet the Los Angeles Lakers are already struggling to stay healthy. Nick Young will be out for a couple of months, while both Steve Nash and Jeremy Lin have been unable to stay on the court. Jordan Clarkson has also been dealing with an injury, leaving the team incredibly thin on the perimeter. Some of these players will likely be back sooner rather than later, but due to the team’s previous injury history, the Lakers should keep added depth on the roster. Ronnie Price has been playing well, and should be one of the final players to make the roster.

With Lin and Nash at point guard, the Lakers are severely lacking on the defensive end. Neither are good defensive players, and especially playing next to an older Kobe Bryant, the team will struggle to contain opposing guards on the perimeter. Price did not have a strong chance of making the final roster, and was seen more as a possible insurance player in case injuries did occur. Unfortunately, the team is already dealing with numerous injuries, giving Price playing time to prove himself.

Price is not a very strong offensive player and does not possess much of an outside shot. However, he is a veteran player who is capable of running the offense and getting the ball into the hands of the playmakers. More importantly, he is a good defensive player who is willing to give full effort on that side of the ball. He has good quickness that the team is currently lacking, and anticipates what the ball-handler’s next move will be.

Price’s ability on the defensive end should earn him a spot on the final roster. The team needs to add better defensive players, as they just aren’t talented enough to win shootouts every game. Price has been in the league for a while, and he understands his role. He would give the team more depth at the guard position, and will work hard to make the team better.
