5 Toughest Things About Being A Washington Wizards Fan

Growing up in the DMV can be rough as a sports fan. The Washington Wizards have not won a championship since they were the Washington Bullets in 1978, and a title does not look like it will happen this season either. Making it to the Eastern Conference Finals seems like a reasonable goal, but it will be at least another year before they are ready to make the NBA Finals. Here are five other reasons it is tough rooting for the Wizards.

Bradley Beal's injury did not surprise me, and it would also not shock anyone if the Wizards suffer another major blow before the trade deadline. Fortunately, they have enough depth this season to withstand losing almost any player other than John Wall.

D.C. is still recovering from Gilbert Arenas' contract, injury issues and a decision to bring a gun into the locker room. He used to be one of Washington's most beloved athletes, which is pretty tough to admit.

The indications right now seem positive that Kevin Durant might come home in a couple seasons. However, it will probably not happen should Oklahoma City win a title.

Marcin Gortat is one of the most entertaining players in D.C., and he upped his fashion game a little bit more this offseason by adding a mohawk. If you catch my drift, it kind of looks like a landing strip. In the understatement of this decade, the above picture of him holding Nene's bicep is just a little bit weird.

They have never won as the Wizards, and -- even more bizarrely -- the trophy from the 1978 championship was lost for years in a closet. If only that last part had been made up, but it was sadly not. Another title does not appear imminent unless Kevin Durant decides to come home.
