It would seem that with Phil Jackson coming on board to the New York Knicks franchise, all will be right in the NBA world in regards to the Knicks’ success. This is probably the furthest thing from the truth. Even with Carmelo Anthony signing a monster deal to stay in New York long term, this team, and more specifically the current roster have a lot of issues in terms of playmaking, and not even the “Zen Master” himself can fix all of this problems.
The Knicks will find themselves under the direction of newly discovered coach Derek Fisher, who by all accounts could be just as successful as Jason Kidd was last last season with the Brooklyn Nets, leading that team to a potential second-round exit. Considering how far the Knicks franchise got last season (missing the playoffs entirely), this would be a vast improvement. Along with a new coach, the Knicks will also be utilizing the triangle offense this season, which is something that Anthony (who by all accounts in the Knicks’ best player) has yet to play under.
With all of these new changes to the organization and their respective playbook, expect a long adjustment period for this team. This could result in a few losses tallying up at the beginning of the season, but eventually, the team will buy into the offensive setup and begin rising up the Eastern Conference. The Knicks will absolutely make the playoff this year but at the bottom of the barrel, most likely sitting at the No. 6 or 7 seed.
Final Prediction: 42-40
