The San Antonio Spurs are gearing up for another title run this season. The hopes are high and the expectations are championship or bust. They may not be as overlooked as they’ve been in the past, especially after their dismantling of the Miami Heat in the 2014 NBA Finals. Let’s take a look at what we can expect from the Alamo City boys.

There is not much to say here, considering the fact that the Spurs were able to bring everyone back from the championship roster. Damion James was part of the regular season roster, but he was made inactive for the playoffs. After the season, James and the Spurs parted ways.

San Antonio had a subtly successful offseason. They were able to bring back their big hitters and steal Kyle Anderson at the NBA Draft. You can expect Anderson to fit right in to the well-oiled machine that is Gregg Popovich’s offense and produce for the Spurs.

The Spurs’ starting five won’t deviate from last season at all. The floor general, Tony Parker, will run at point guard. Danny Green and his new No. 14 jersey will start at the two spot. No one else but Kawhi Leonard can start at the small forward position. Tim Duncan and Tiago Splitter (if healthy) will hold down the paint at the power forward and center positions.

The Spurs have arguably the greatest sixth man in NBA history, Manu Ginobili, coming off the bench. With Patty Mills injured, Cory Joseph will run backup point guard. Boris Diaw and Marco Belinelli will be high-minute players off the bench, while Jeff Ayers, Matt Bonner, Aron Baynes, Kyle Anderson and Austin Daye will fall into the shuffle.

It will be pretty difficult for the Spurs to top their almost flawless season last year. They finished with the best record in the league (62-20) and ended the season with an NBA championship. Since they’ve brought back nearly the same roster, you can expect nearly the same result. San Antonio will finish the 61-21 and repeat as NBA champions.
