Memphis Grizzlies 2014-15 Season Preview and Predictions

The Memphis Grizzlies added some key pieces this offseason, and will look to contend in a loaded Western Conference. Here is a breakdown of where the Grizzlies will finish this season.

The Grizzlies lost some serious firepower on the wing, as Mike Miller decided to join LeBron James in Cleveland instead of stay with Memphis. Miller played in almost every single game for the team and his impact will be missed. The other loss that will be felt is Ed Davis, who decided to join the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Grizzlies did a nice job of adding pieces, most notably Vince Carter, who will be the team's key contributor off the bench. Carter will be a force in the offense with his ability to spread the floor and be a consistent playmaker. Draft picks Jordan Adams and Jarnell Stokes have bright futures with the team as well.

3. Starting Lineup

Mike Conley, Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph and Tony Allen are the foundation of the team and will be in the starting lineup without a doubt. The biggest hole is at the small forward position, but Quincy Pondexter is returning from injury, and he should be the starter as he is an underrated scorer and wing defender.

2. Bench Rotation

Carter will be the sixth man and lead dog off the bench, but Courtney Lee will carve out his minutes as well along with Tayshaun Prince on the wing. Kosta Koufos is a high-quality big man off the bench, and him and Jon Leuer should play big roles in the second unit's front court this season. Nick Calathes and Beno Udrih should be the replacements for Mike Conley, giving time to the young rookies to watch and develop.

The Grizzlies have a real shot at knocking some contenders off in the Western Conference. Memphis loaded with veteran talent and just enough youth to keep up with the faster teams in the conference. Defense will once again be key, but if the offense comes around, look out for this team. I expect the Grizzlies to finish 54-28, grabbing either the fourth or fifth seed come playoff time.
