The San Antonio Spurs are expected to win the West and meet up with the new-look Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals this year. There are other teams that might be the more attractive pick to win compared to the tedious success of the Spurs, but here are five reasons why the Spurs will win the 2014-15 NBA Finals.

The Spurs have their 15-man roster set, and every player is capable of producing at a high level. No other opponent has the option of playing all 15 players. Last season, Popovich played a nine-man rotation with no one averaging more than 30 minutes per game. The luxury of having a bench will show during the playoffs once the fatigue of the regular season catches up to the starters of other teams.

No one knew what kind of player Kawhi Leonard would be for the Spurs, but last season’s NBA Finals MVP performance was a glimpse into the future. Leonard’s 7-foot-3 wingspan and lateral quickness allows him to guard the likes of LeBron James. His offensive game is expanding along with his shooting range. His versatility makes him a dangerous weapon. As Leonard goes, look for the Spurs to follow.

3. Coaching

We all know that Gregg Popovich is one of the greatest, if not the greatest coach in NBA history, but let’s not forget how great the Spurs’ coaching staff is. Becky Hammon is a great basketball mind. The two-time Euroleague champion, Ettore Messina, has been winning for years at different levels. Chip Engelland, Ime Udoka, Chad Forcier and Jim Boylen are all high-level coaches and people who have earned their stripes in the league.

R.C. Buford and the rest of the Spurs’ front office have orchestrated a finely-tuned franchise that has been in championship contention for the better part of this decade. There aren’t many front offices in sports that can compete with that of San Antonio's management. If the Spurs don’t have what it takes to win a title, you can expect Buford and his boys to provide whatever is needed to bring a sixth championship home.

One major factor in winning the NBA Finals is actually being in that environment and knowing what it takes to win or lose. Fortunately for the Spurs, they’ve been on both sides. For 17 straight seasons, the Spurs have entered the playoffs and five times they've come out as the victor. With the “Big Three” intact, Gregg Popovich at the helm, and 14 NBA champions on the roster, they know what it takes to win.
