Lakers Rookie Julius Randle Breaks His Leg in NBA Debut

If the Los Angeles Lakers had any hopes of being competitive this season, they just went out the window.

In the season opener against the Houston Rockets, the Lakers lost one of their most important players. During a routine drive through the lane, rookie first-round pick Julius Randle went up for a layup and, by what we can tell, kicked (and broke) his own leg. At least, that’s the point where his leg seems to go limp. Reports, and the fact that he was stretchered off the court, confirm that his right leg was broken.

Take a look for yourself and see if you can tell exactly what happened. Either way, it’s another devastating blow for a Lakers team that just can’t find a way to get out of this rut.
