Michael Jordan blazed many trails throughout his NBA career, and he continues to do so during his time as owner of the Charlotte Hornets. Jordan said recently that he would love to see some other former players take on an ownership role. This slideshow will point out five other stars who would make great owners or that we would greatly enjoy watching fail at a second career.

Patrick Ewing seems more interested in being an NBA head coach, however, he has not been given that shot yet. If Ewing owned a team, then he could hire himself in a truly unprecedented move.

Alonzo Mourning is quite a bright guy, and he certainly has a good thing going currently with the Miami Heat. It sure would be fun to see him lurking in an owner's box though.

I had to put Gilbert Arenas, aka Agent Zero, on this list for purely comedic purposes. I do not think anyone would actually sell a team to Arenas, because he did bring a gun into the Washington Wizards' locker room.

Shaquille O'Neal remains busy with his TNT gig at the moment, but he is also a minority owner with the Sacramento Kings. One day, Shaq might be interested in owning a majority stake of some NBA team.

Kevin Garnett is technically still playing-- which means I am cheating here a little bit. You could classify him as a former star due to his lack of production last season though, and it would be amazing to see him own the Minnesota Timberwolves and guide them to their fist ever NBA championship.
