Los Angeles Clippers’ Jamal Crawford Hitting 15,000 Points Shows Dedication To Sixth Man Role
The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Utah Jazz on Monday night, but the biggest news from the game came from the reigning sixth man of the year Jamal Crawford. Crawford got to 15,000 career points in the fourth quarter of the game.
Coming into the game, Crawford only needed 16 points to meet the mark and he scored 19. Crawford sat out of Sunday afternoon’s game against the Sacramento Kings due to a bruised rib injury — a game in which his missing presence was definitely felt. Whether or not Crawford would take the court Monday night was up in the air for a while, and even if he did, no one knew how many minutes he would even (or could even) play.
Crawford not only hit 15,000 points on the night, but he was also the second leading scorer for the Clippers in the game. The Clippers fans in attendance erupted when they found out Crawford surpassed a milestone mark in his career.
Crawford joins the ranks of active players like Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Dirk Nowitzki, and Crawford reached the feat before reigning league MVP Kevin Durant.
“We had the game ball and each guy passed it to him,” said coach Doc Rivers of the shots Crawford took during the game, “because we were trying to symbolize that ‘That’s how you got them. Somebody had to give you the ball.’”
Crawford is much more than a bench player; he symbolizes what every NBA team needs in their corner as a player who doesn’t mind sitting in the back seat and driving the car when he’s needed.
Congratulations to Jamal Crawford on the amazing and elite milestone!
