The Chicago Bulls are no stranger to dealing with injuries, but Joakim Noah‘s knee has become a concern as the team begins its season.

Noah underwent a minor knee surgery in May and at the time, the Bulls said it would require 8-12 weeks of rehab. However, six months later, Noah says it is still an issue for him and may be an issue for the rest of the season. The Defensive Player of the Year hasn’t looked like himself in the preseason or the start of the regular season. He runs with a noticeable limp while wearing a bulky knee brace, doesn’t seem to jump as high, and hasn’t been able to disrupt things defensively like he usually does because of a lack of mobility.

Although the preseason combined with the regular season games thus far make for a small sample size, Noah’s assists and offensive rebounding numbers are down. Part of the reason is because Noah hasn’t been nearly as active as he is used to being. This is especially troubling for a player who prides himself on heart and hustle.

The part that is puzzling is that fans still don’t know specifically what knee surgery Noah had, if they found something else during surgery or if he had some sort of setback during rehab. The Bulls haven’t been forthcoming with information in regards to Noah’s knee so the circumstances are unclear.

It is worrisome no doubt, and you have to wonder if it is going to have an effect on Noah all season long. At the very least, it is something to keep an eye on.
