Top 5 Overreactions To Los Angeles Clippers' First Week

The Los Angeles Clippers were considered to be a title favorite coming into this season after a strong showing last year where they made it to the Western Conference Semifinals. They strengthened their bench and brought back their starting crew with a new owner in tow, and so far it has resulted in a 3-2 start. The Clippers are in fine shape, but some believe they are already in trouble. Here are five overreactions to their first week:

Redick has got off to a rough start, shooting only 28.9 percent from the field and 23.3 percent from the 3-point line. Redick is not forcing shots, but just missing open to slightly contested ones. Some believe that when he is struggling, he is a useless player, but his constant movement, along with his underrated defense, are still incredibly important to the Clippers being as active as they are on both sides of the floor.

Blake Griffin is off to a dominant start so far on the offensive end of the floor, shooting lights-out from everywhere on the court and still possessing the boundless athleticism we have come to expect out of him. He is only averaging 6.4 RPG so far, which is a slight concern, but when DeAndre Jordan is gobbling up the lion's share, it is not surprising his numbers are low. He must get better at this area, but he is far from bad at rebounding.

3. Spencer Hawes Solves Their Center Problem In Crunch Time

Many believe that the signing of Spencer Hawes will solve the Clippers' problem in crunch time, where they pretty much can not play DeAndre Jordan due to his free throw shooting problems. But where they gain in offense, they lose in defense where Hawes is average at best. In my opinion, defense is even more important in close games than offense, so they will still miss playing Jordan nonetheless even if Hawes is in there.

2. Matt Barnes Should Be Benched

Barnes has gotten off to a rocky start shooting the ball, leading some people to say that he should not be the team's starting small forward. However, people forget just how good he is on defense, where he is often tasked with guarding the opposition's best perimeter player. Barnes does need to improve his shooting, but he still deserves a starting spot just based on his stellar defense alone.

The Golden State Warriors throttled the Clippers on Wednesday night, leading many to say that the Warriors are already clearly the better team. While the Warriors are certainly a title contender, so are the Clippers, and one game does not mean the end of the world. These teams are certainly close in terms of talent level, but it is way too soon to say right now that one is clearly better than the other.
