Nets.com has long been a mystery. Many basketball fans have gone to the site for information on the New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets over the years, but instead, they end up viewing master troll work. Well, the case has finally been solved. No, Mark Cuban is not involved (contrary to past rumors).

Andrew Keh of the New York Times has cracked the case. The person actually behind Nets.com? 69-year old Jane Hill of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

It turns out that Hill acquired the domain in 1996 after she sold Roadrunner.com to Time Warner for a ridiculous sum. She then bought 500 domains, including Nets.com, from a failing internet service provider.

Fast forward to 2012, the year the Nets moved to Brooklyn, and Hill has been trying to get the team to buy the domain ever since. The current price tag is $5 million. However, the Nets have yet to bite on the offer.

When you go to Nets.com, you will be redirected to a site of her son’s choosing. The redirects are all attempts to troll the Nets.

Currently, the site redirects to ebay:
