The New York Knicks have yet to master the triangle, but Phil Jackson is not yet done assembling this roster with his type of players. Once the Zen Master does, then I will like this team's playoff chances a lot better. As for this season? I do not see it happening. Check out my takeaways from the Knicks' struggles.

When J.R. Smith took that last-second heave and Carmelo Anthony was calling for the rock, you could almost see Jackson pick up the phone to make a trade in the background. Moving Smith would be tough, but he just does not fit on this roster and should be traded or released quite soon.

It will be tough getting quality free agents to join the New York Knicks, but Jackson is the man who can make that happen. A Kobe Bryant trade could make sense for both sides, but Ramona Shelburne reported on Grantland's Basketball Hour that "The Black Mamba" would never leave Los Angeles.

Derek Fisher will take a lot longer to get comfortable in his head coaching role than Jason Kidd took. That is mainly because Kidd had the opportunity to coach a team with some actual talent. Fisher is in a much different boat, and it might even be named "The Titanic."

Carmelo Anthony could have been a part of the amazing Chicago Bulls this season, but he picked money over winning. I hope he feels really dumb.

Knicks fans can imagine a return to the playoffs all they want, but it is not going to happen even in the top-heavy Eastern Conference.
