One of the things that basketball fans can forget in their analysis of the NBA is the fact that all of these guys are incredibly talented. However, it’s the players that establish themselves as stars that we focus on the most. The only thing that can really detract from that is if those stars are surrounded by teammates that are far from their level. These 10 players certainly fit into that unfortunate scenario, though.

Though he’s only in his second year, we’ve seen that MCW has the talent to be an all-around contributor in the NBA. However, he plays for a Sixers team that is an abomination so his impact is lessened to some degree.

The Jazz certainly aren’t the poor team that they were last season, but they aren’t good by any stretch. Hayward is a huge part of their future and arguably their best two-way player right now. He can compete with near anyone in this league, but he’s just stuck in Utah.

8. Ricky Rubio

He may be injured right now and off the court for some time, but the Wolves point guard is one of the most divisive figures in the league. Rubio can flat-out get it done in almost every aspect of the game that doesn’t involve scoring efficiently. Without Kevin Love in Minnesota, though, his team is lackluster to say the least.

7. Nikola Vucevic

The Magic are another team on the rise, but their youth hasn’t quite fulfilled its potential yet. However, their big man in Vucevic is an underappreciated stud in this league and could very well get his due as Orlando gets more experience and improves.

6. Andre Drummond

Drummond is clearly exceptionally talented, despite his struggles thus far this season. The biggest issue may be the fact that he’s on a dysfunctional Pistons team that seems far from clicking, even under the tutelage of Stan Van Gundy.

Lawson is a rocket with the ball in his hands and can run an offense with the best of them. In year two under Brian Shaw, though, the Nuggets seem to not be able to enjoy the talents of the point guard.

Though Rondo may not be with the struggling Celtics for the entire 2014-15 season, that’s where he is now. When engaged, there aren’t many playmakers like Rondo currently in the NBA.

Hibbert has seen his fair share of struggles since the home-stretch of last season, but he’s playing like the star we know he can be so far this season. The issue is that he’s flanked by promoted bench players who aren’t going to be able to capitalize on his performance.

2. Carmelo Anthony

Melo is still one of the premier offensive talents in this league and he continues to carry the Knicks offense to solid levels. However, this New York team is a mess overall and isn’t going to live up to unreasonably high expectations once again.

1. Kobe Bryant

There were warranted questions about Kobe coming into the season given his age, but he’s silenced any of that kind of chatter. He can still score with the best of them, but the Lakers are a wreck and could legitimately challenge Philly for the worst record in the league.
