Raptors vs. Cavaliers: Game Preview, Prediction
So, continuity is clearly a thing in the NBA. The Cleveland Cavaliers fell to 5-6 last night, losing 91-78 to the Washington Wizards, while the Toronto Raptors rolled to a 41-point victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. The win for Toronto moved them to 10-2 and first place in the Eastern conference.
First place is where many thought Cleveland would find themselves throughout the season, but it has been anything from smooth sailing for the revamped Cavs. The biggest worry about this team coming into the season was on defense because of Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving. They haven’t done anything to relieve that worry, but the real problem as of late has been on offense. Too many possessions have turned into four guys standing around watching whoever is dribbling. LeBron James wasn’t lying when he said it would take time for the Cavs to figure everything out, but even he is starting to look frustrated with the lack of cohesion on offense.
Most of the problems that Cleveland faces can be chalked up to lack of playing experience between the starting five. The Toronto Raptors can’t relate to any of those problems.
The Raptors are proving that last season’s division title was no fluke. Having played nine out of their 12 games at home hasn’t hurt, but they are playing as well as anyone in the league. Getting a big contract in the offseason hasn’t hurt Kyle Lowry‘s game on the court. If anything, he has been playing better this year.
The Cavs come into this game as losers of three straight. It will be difficult to avoid making it four straight tonight against the Raptors. It’s a matter of seeing before believing with Cleveland. They will be better as the season goes on but at this point I see the Raptors being too much from them.
Prediction: Toronto 104 – Cleveland 95
