Miami Heat Proving That Old Habits Die Hard

Dwyane Wade who?

Don’t lie, a few of you sarcastically thought it as the Miami Heat went up by 16 points on the Golden State Warriors last night. I know I did, before the team’s lead began to slowly slip away and turn my sarcasm into a poorly timed jinx — or a self-inflicted one. Chris Bosh said it best to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel:

“For some reason, we just forget everything. I don’t know why. I think we took ourselves out of everything.”

There is no doubt about it that once Miami went up big they began to feel happy and let their strategy go lax.

Not only did they get sloppy, the team started to slip back into their old habits of no ball movement while everyone turned into pull up jump shot artists. Even Udonis Haslem threw one up off of the dribble. However, offense was not the sole focus of their collapse. Somehow they managed to do the inexplicable by constantly losing track of where Stephen Curry was on the court.

We all know that it is impossible to outscore a squad that drops 107 PPG when you cannot stay stride for stride with one of the best shooters to ever step on the wood, as he guns it from beyond the arc for 40 points.

This may all seem like just another flaw that fans could chalk up to a team full of new players, but they also gave up the same amount of threes to Curry (8) as they did in Miami last season with the Big Three in the building.

The exact problem then is the exact issue now: The Heat will not have cohesion until that “Dwayne Wade who” guy injects a little consistent health into the lineup.
