Miami Heat vs. New York Knicks: Game Preview, Prediction

The Miami Heat are 8-7 on the season and in prime position to make it to the NBA Playoffs early in the season. Miami has struggled with injuries to Dwayne Wade and a lack of focus at times, but the Heat have shown flashes of being a legitimate contender in the East. If this team can start winning now, they could coast into the playoffs without ever worrying about finishing on the outside looking in.

Next up for the Heat are the New York Knicks. The Knicks, who are without Carmelo Anthony for the immediate future, were dominated by the Oklahoma City Thunder, 105-78. New York will hope that the game is a fluke due to Anthony’s absence and the return of Russell Westbrook, but the Knicks looked like one of the worst teams in the NBA in that last performance.

The problem with predicting Miami as the easy winner is that we have no idea which Heat team is going to show up in New York. Miami has beaten good teams like the Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors, but then has lost to NBA teams with horrible records like the Indiana Pacers and Charlotte Hornets. The Heat have lost only one game this season when they have scored more than 100 points, so a fast start is necessary for Miami to win.

However, despite their up and down season so far, the Heat win this one easily, as the Knicks struggle without their lone star.

Prediction: Heat 86, Knicks 71
