In the cluttered Western Conference of the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs sit at fifth with an 11-4 record early in the season. The Spurs have only one loss at home, and have great wins against some of the better teams in the NBA. Point guard Tony Parker leads the team in scoring, and it’s no surprise that Tim Duncan leads the team in rebounding.
Next up for San Antonio are the Boston Celtics. The Celtics have one of the worst defenses in the NBA, but counter that with their ability to score points. At 4-9, Boston will still have ample opportunity to make a push to the playoffs before the season ends. However, a win against San Antonio would be a necessity on their path moving forward.
Against Boston, San Antonio will continue to play their common style of play, which is to spread the ball around and keep the other team from getting good looks. Boston’s Jared Sullinger should have a big game, but expect the rest of the team to struggle.
San Antonio boasts the second least points allowed per game and dominates on the glass, so you can expect the type of game in which several Boston players finish with low field goal percentages.
The Celtics have improved since last season and have shown flashes of being a somewhat decent NBA team in the near future, but cannot seem to get it together against good opposition. Expect San Antonio to roll in this one and build up a huge lead early.
Prediction: San Antonio 102, Boston 84
