While the offense may not be scoring in bunches, the Wizards are fourth in the league with 24.4 assists per game. John Wall and Bradley Beal are too good of a combo to not improve this season. Expect the scoring to increase if the team is willing to share the ball so freely.

Grade: B+

Washington’s defense is good for seventh in the league allowing less than 97 points per game. They recently held the Pelicans to 80 points in a game. In a league where offense rules, the Wizards' defense could prove deadly for the opposition.

Randy Wittman is doing an admirable job with the available pieces in Washington. He’s willing to publicly challenge his players but isn’t demeaning. In this first month, Wittman has excelled.

The Wizards traded away second-round pick Jordan Clarkson, but 2013 pick Otto Porter Jr. is starting to fit in with the team. With veterans at his position, look for Porter to learn and improve.

While Paul Pierce may not be lighting up the scoreboard, that really shouldn’t be his role on this team as the Wizards have plenty of options to score. His leadership and championship experience provide the young Wizards with wisdom on the court. Rasual Butler provides experience and depth at the SF position. Kris Humphries has performed well off the bench while DeJuan Blair hasn’t played much thus far.

Grade: B+
