Perry Jones Has Been Oklahoma City Thunder's Most Disappointing Player This Season

Perry Jones had a golden opportunity this season with Kevin Durant‘s injury to step up as a player, but unfortunately he suffered a knee injury shortly into the year. I hate to pile on him even more, however, it must be pointed out what went wrong for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the early going. Sometimes you just have to recover after having some bad injury luck, and Jones will hope to show his best side over this next month.

Reggie Jackson and Serge Ibaka both stepped up their games with Durant and Russell Westbrook sitting, but it was not enough to keep OKC firmly in the playoff hunt. They are going to need to be flawless for the rest of this year in order to make a postseason run, and I am just not sure this is their time.

Jones has only played in seven games due to his injury and put up a meager 11.4 points per game while logging 27.4 minutes per contest. They needed him to score more for them to win some of the closer affairs, but he was not up to the challenge. This caused other players like Jackson and Ibaka to take on more than they were capable of, and the result is an 8-13 record as of Thursday morning for the Thunder.

Jones had a slower recovery than expected, but Durant and Westbrook need his production more now than they would probably be willing to admit. We will have to see if the Thunder can put all their pieces together in time for a playoff push, however, the injury bug seems to have targeted them this season. It could cause OKC to miss out on primetime basketball.
