When looking at the Los Angeles Lakers‘ roster, it was hard to imagine them winning a lot of games this season. But with players like Kobe Bryant on the roster, it was expected that they would at least remain competitive and give teams a good run for their money. Unfortunately, that has not always been the case, as they have struggled to keep pace in many games, and have experienced their fair share of blowout losses. However, on Sunday night, the team played a balanced game on the offensive end and gave the Phoenix Suns all they could handle.

The Suns eventually pulled away at the end, but the Lakers’ play was something that should be expected on a nightly basis. Six players scored in double figures for the Lakers, as they shared the ball and looked to set each other up. While there were still lapses on the defensive side, there was more of an effort from several players, whether it be quick rotations or hustling back on defense.

The Lakers did not get the result they wanted, and surely will not be satisfied with a loss. But this is the type of effort that they need to be giving every game. They cannot constantly rely on Bryant to bail them out, as he is getting older and cannot operate like he used to when he was in his prime. The Suns are a very good team and the Lakers were able to hang in for most of the game because of the balanced scoring. This needs to remain a focal point going forward as the team strives to get better.
