It is hard to argue against Chris Bosh as an NBA All-Star starter, but the case can be made. Now the leader, or at least highest paid player, of the Miami Heat, the season has been a struggle for Bosh and the entire organization. Getting over LeBron James is never easy as the Cleveland Cavaliers proved over the last four years. Still, when you make the big money, big things are expected. Here are five reasons why Bosh should not be a starter.

When considering a player to be an All-Star and especially a starter, I look a many things. As candidates begin to narrow, so do the categories to separate them. As it becomes tougher to decide, I like to look at "signature games". Look back over the course of the season for big scoring games, triple-doubles, buzzer-beaters, etc. Bosh has not really had a memorable game this season. A couple of 30+ point performances, but nothing unforgettable.

It has been said over and over again for years, but I am going to say it again. The East is weak. It is not secret that the conference is weak, but Bosh does have some competition for a starting spot. Players like Pau Gasol and Kevin Love are both averaging double-doubles on the season. Then there is the surprising Atlanta Hawks with big man Paul Millsap, and Joakim Noah is always a fan favorite.

Bosh missed eight games recently due to an injury. Injuries are something that no one can prevent, but some players are fortunate and are able to play in more games. I'm not saying to banish Bosh from the All-Star game because he missed games, but a reserve position is more fitting than starting.

When you are scheduled to make over $ 120 million in five years, certain expectations are set for you. In this case, Miami and Heat fans are expecting Bosh to deliver. Bosh got his max contract and his star role back, but his statistics haven't necessarily shown that. He is only averaging 21.3 points and 7.9 rebounds. I would like to see something along the lines of 25 and 10 per game. After all, Bosh is making over $ 20 million per year!

After a 3-0 start to the season, the Heat have fallen hard to 15-20. When you think of an All-Star starter, you normally think of a player with high averages who comes from a good team. Miami could be a good team, but they aren't right now and that partially rests on Bosh.
