Cleveland Cavaliers Hopeful To Get LeBron James Back By Tuesday

The Cleveland Cavaliers knew they would be in trouble without superstar LeBron James in the lineup. However, I cannot imagine they thought it would be as bad as it has been. The good news for the Cavaliers is James should be returning to the court as early as Tuesday.

“Right now we’re in a stage where he is shooting and he is moving,” Cavaliers head coach Dave Blatt said, according to CBS Sports. “He’s running through sets. He still hasn’t done live work. [Monday] we will see if we can do that with him.”

Without James, Cleveland has looked like a ship without its captain. They have lost five in a row and only been able to muster one victory in their last nine chances with James out with an injury. Even more embarrassing is the Cavaliers have lost nine of their last 11 games after going on a hot streak.

Even though James’ numbers are a bit down this season, there is no question he is the heart and soul of the Cavaliers. More importantly, he is the man who can crush defenses and create opportunities for his teammates. Without his presence on the floor, defenses do not have to worry about the extra threat, which allows them to control point guard Kyrie Irving far better.

James has missed nine games with back and knee injuries. At this point, his ability to get back in the lineup depends on how he performs in practice on Monday. If his body responds well to the workout, then there is a good chance the Cavaliers will feel comfortable letting him suit up and play on Tuesday against the Phoenix Suns. On the other hand, any lingering issues means he will most likely not return to the lineup until Thursday or Friday.

In 29 games this season, James is averaging 25.2 points. 7.6 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game on 48.8 percent shooting from the field.
