The Miami Heat are starting to gain momentum in this tumultuous season of theirs, winning their last two games and continually starting the same players for the first time in a while. However, Dwyane Wade went down last night against the Los Angeles Lakers with a hamstring injury, and how long he is out is an unknown at the moment. The loss of Wade could be the exact momentum killer the Heat don’t want to have on their hands, and because of this, might have to start looking through potential buyout players to replace his minutes until he returns.
Several veteran players were recently released or traded by their teams, and because of this, sought a buyout to become a free agent. Some of these players include Nate Robinson, Tayshaun Prince and Jameer Nelson and all three could add something to the mix for the Heat in their current Eastern Conference playoff race. With the serious amount of issues the Heat have been having at the point guard position, both Robinson and Nelson’s productivity would be a huge boost over anything that Norris Cole, Mario Chalmers or even rookie Shabazz Napier have been providing.
Prince could also be a huge boost for the small forward rotation. Although the Heat aren’t nearly as depleted at this position, outside of Luol Deng, they don’t really have another reliable small forward. If you think that James Ennis has been reliable, you haven’t watched a lot of Heat games this season.
With another month and a half before the buyout deadline ends, the Heat have plenty of time to examine their options. Either way, steady options are already appearing, and the Heat have plenty to choose from.
