Two weeks from now NBA All-Star weekend will make its debut in Brooklyn's Barclays Center with all of the Friday and Saturday night festivities. But as usual, people will be looking forward to the Sprite Slam Dunk contest to bring the highlights.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Zach LaVine, Victor Oladipo and Mason Plumlee should make it interesting, but here are six players who should have been named participants.

The Toronto Raptors’ James Johnson may not be a household name, but his dunks -- including this one he threw down on Detroit’s Andre Drummond -- would have made it interesting to see him flying around the contest.

5. Aaron Gordon – Orlando Magic

Aaron Gordon is a 6-foot-9 forward for the Orlando Magic who has been dubbed a young Blake Griffin for a reason that goes way beyond his physical build. He has the God-given dunking ability to match, and he has showcased that during every competition available.

4. Andrew Wiggins – Minnesota Timberwolves

Everyone expected Andrew Wiggins to be a lock to throw his name in the Sprite Slam Dunk race -- especially after seeing him attempt to throw one down after putting the ball under both legs at the McDonald's All-Star contest.

I'm pretty sure the fix would have probably been for likely Rookie of the Year, the same way it was for Blake Griffin in 2013.

The world loves a little man with hops, and Aaron Gordon’s old Arizona teammate, Nick Johnson, more than fits the bill.

The 6-foot-3 guard nicknamed “Bunnies” would have put on a show, displaying the high-flying skills that he inherited from his 52-inch jumping father.

2. Terrence Ross – Toronto Raptors

Last year’s silly team rules robbed us all of seeing a full on dunk display from Terrence Ross. However, he should have been invited back to defend his 2013 title and show why he’s Toronto’s best dunker since Vince Carter.

Zach LaVine is probably the only dunker in this year's contest who deserves to be there because of his obvious skills. His amazing 46-inch vertical leap does not hurt either. But why waste time talking when I could let the highlights speak for themselves.
