All records are meant to be broken, and the records for the NBA All-Star Game are no different. Whether it is an individual’s performance or the performance of an entire team, when the NBA’s best and brightest stars get together, great things will happen. When the NBA’s All-Stars take to the court on Feb. 15 for the 2015 edition of the NBA All-Star Game, here are five records that could possibly be broken.

During his 19-year NBA career, Kobe Bryant has been elected to the All-Star Game 17 times. Over the course of this span, Bryant has collected four All-Star Game MVP Awards and has scored a record 280 career points. Heading into the 2015 All-Star Game, LeBron James stands just 33 points away from breaking Bryant’s record. It may require James to have an MVP-like performance, but becoming the all-time leading scorer is definitely within reach.

Back in 1984, Magic Johnson dazzled the Denver crowd by dishing out an NBA All-Star Game record 22 assists. With plenty of great passers like LeBron James and Chris Paul and plenty of great shooters like Carmelo Anthony and Stephen Curry participating in the All-Star Game this year, this record that has now stood for 31 years could finally be broken.

In recent years the NBA has seen its players take an increased number of attempts from behind the three-point line. During each year’s All-Star Game this is no different. In the 2014 All-Star Game, New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony showed off his range by connecting on a record eight of his three-point attempts. This year guys like Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson or even Anthony himself could quickly erase this record.

Wilt Chamberlain may hold the record for most points in an All-Star Game with 42 points way back in 1962, but last year both Kevin Durant and Blake Griffin came awfully close to breaking this record as they each scored 38 points in a losing effort. With defense barely making an appearance in the NBA All-Star Game, Chamberlain’s record could easily be surpassed this year.

Last year both the Eastern and Western Conference scored an All-Star Game record 318 combined points – passing the previous high of 303 points which was recorded during the 1987 All-Star Game. The 2015 All-Star Game features a unique blend of both veteran All-Stars and new All-Stars looking to prove that they belong. This blend along with a likely lack of defense is a perfect recipe for an outrageously high-scoring All-Star Game.
