5 Teams That Could Sign Ray Allen After 2015 All-Star Break

It is a bit surprising Ray Allen hasn’t made a decision about whether he plans to retire from the NBA or play another year, although he’s on record stating he would like to join a contender in the second half of the season. In fact, Allen is reportedly interested in signing with a team with playoff aspirations after the All-Star break. Here are five teams that are most likely to ink him to a deal in a few weeks.

With a 37-13 record, the Memphis Grizzlies have a somewhat lock on the second seed in the Western Conference. If their intentions are to reach the conference finals and beyond, they may want to consider signing a guard who can provide quality production off the bench. More importantly, the Grizzlies rank 18th in the NBA in three-point percentage, an area that Allen would easily be able to improve.

If there is one area the Chicago Bulls must improve in at the trade deadline, it’s bench scoring. Allen isn’t going to torch opponents, but he’s more than capable of giving the Bulls double-digit points off the bench. That’s exactly what he did for the Miami Heat the past two seasons. Chicago also could use a boost in three-point scoring, something Allen excels in. If the Bulls want to climb the standings, convincing Allen to join them is a must.

John Wall and Bradley Beal have done a terrific job keeping the Washington Wizards in the No. 3 spot in the Eastern Conference standings, but they definitely need some depth behind them. There’s no quality player to enter the game in relief, which will be detrimental for the team down the stretch and into the playoffs. Not only can be addition to their already impressive three-point game, but also he can be a much-needed veteran presence.

2. Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks have reportedly had discussions with Allen’s representatives about him joining the team after the All-Star break. Considering the Hawks have the best record in the NBA and just finished going 17-0 in January, it would be shocking if Allen turned them down. There’s no question Atlanta requesting his services is a good idea, especially since Allen could be the reason why they dominate in the postseason and reach the NBA Finals.

The Cleveland Cavaliers were temporarily the laughing stock of the NBA. That seems like a lifetime ago as the team has got their season back on track. Allen enjoys playing with James, which is a big reason why the Cavaliers are the most likely landing spot for him. Plus, Cleveland has all of the makings of a team that will make some serious noise in the playoffs, especially if Allen joins forces with them.
