With the All-Star break upon us, the Philadelphia 76ers currently possess a record of 12-41. But just because they sit towards the bottom of the NBA standings, doesn't mean that the entire first half of the 2014-15 season has been a waste. From the team’s style of play all the way to their ongoing rebuilding plan, here are five things that have been learned from the 76ers' season so far.

Despite their poor record and extremely inexperienced roster, the 76ers have been fun to watch so far this season. Although they usually come out on the losing side of things, the young roster that the franchise has built shows up to play every night. With really nothing to lose, the 76ers have been more exciting to watch than their record may indicate.

Through the first year and a half of his tenure as head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, Brett Brown possess a record of 31-104. Record aside, Brown appears as though he is the right man to guide the 76ers through their ongoing rebuilding plan. Despite being outmanned almost every night, Brown has managed to get the most out of his players – some of which would not be able to make any other NBA roster.

Since he arrived in Philadelphia, general manager Sam Hinkie and his ongoing fascination of collecting second-round picks and signing players from the NBA D-League have become the butt of many jokes around the NBA. However, despite his critics, Hinkie has managed to find some diamonds in the rough. This season, Robert Covington, Jerami Grant and K.J. McDaniels have all proven that they can be long-term pieces of the puzzle for the 76ers.

2. Still Lack A Star

The 76ers may have some nice pieces in place, but the team still lacks that one true star who can lead them to an NBA championship. Although it is still early in their careers, top picks Michael Carter-Williams and Nerlens Noel appear to be only complementary players on a championship team. If the 76ers don’t have an absolute bona fide star in injured center Joel Embiid, then they will have to go find one either in free agency or via the draft.

People from the outside look at the 76ers and call their rebuilding process a failure. However, that could not be further from the truth. From Day 1, the plan has been to assemble and develop as much young talent as possible so that when the team lands that one superstar, all of the other pieces are already in place. From the beginning of this season alone, the 76ers have made great strides, proving that the plan in place is actually working.
