Michael Beasley Would Allow Miami Heat To Live Comfortably

It is often said that the third time’s a charm, but the ability to do anything in threes is a difficult feat in sports. Just ask every NBA team that has tried to three-peat since the Los Angeles Lakers in 2002.

However, with the current iteration of the Miami Heat proving to be deficient in scoring, an issue that will only grow with Chris Bosh ruled out for the rest of the year with blood clots in his lungs. Perhaps the organization should try to the difficult thing and gift former No. 2 pick Michael Beasley a new chance.

Beasley would give the team another lefty 6-foot-9 shooter to stretch the floor. In a limited role, he was a jolt of instant offense for the team while shooting 50 percent from the field and 39 percent from three. It’s a smaller sample size, but comparable to Bosh’s 46 percent from the field and 38 percent from three this season. Not to mention, Beasley averaged six rebounds per game in his first two years in Miami at power forward compared to Bosh’s seven per game this year.

Slotting him into the stretch-four position would be a natural fit for him, rather than repeatedly sticking Luol Deng into a position he does not play. More importantly, it would save them from forcing Goran Dragic into the same three-guard lineup with Mario Chalmers and Dwyane Wade that the pending free agent tried so hard to escape in Phoenix.

Why not give Beasley a look? After all, the third time can be positive, like when LeBron James finally brought home a title after two losses.
