The beard should be feared, but James Harden should also be concerned with the Houston Rockets’ playoff seeding. If the playoffs started today, the Rockets would lock up with the Los Angeles Clippers as the Western conference’s current fourth seed. Yet, if they pick up a game on the Portland Trailblazers, they could face the slightly weaker Dallas Mavericks.

In fact, the Rockets face their adjacent playoff adversaries in just a few days. The one game gap can be bridged with a Rockets win, moving Houston into the No. 3 spot, with an outside shot at claiming the second seed.

The Clippers lead the season series at 2-1, and getting a win here could set a precedent for the Rockets' potential first round foe. It may be a tough go at the Staples Center, but that doesn’t make it any less a must-win game.

When fighting for the best seed possible, you gotta clean up the gimme games. Minnesota is the worst team in the Western conference and the Rockets have to take full advantage of this layup home game.

The defending champs are battling to stay afloat as the current seventh seed in the Western conference. The Rockets could eliminate a Texas-sized threat by throttling the Spurs and hurting San Antonio’s playoff chances while helping theirs.

It’s the last game of the season, and it’s very likely that the Rockets will be contending for any seed from No. 2 to No. 4. To secure a home series, the Rockets will probably have to close out the season strong, and that means taking out Utah.
