Predicting The 2015 NBA Champion From A Top-16 Bracket Duel

By Jerry Landry

We love March Madness, but is it because we love basketball? Or because we like the bracket? Why not avoid the awkwardness of having to answer either question and just give NBA fans the benefits of both?

This is what we’ve done at RantSports in offering the NBA “Rantified” Playoff Bracket. The top 16 teams get in regardless of conference affiliation and we see the world’s best basketball in the world’s best playoff format.

As you see above, there isn’t much surprise, unless you’re not hip to the classic No. 5 – No. 12 upset. Like any bracket should, this optimized NBA field has the No. 5 Houston Rockets falling before “May Madness” to the 12th-seeded Washington WizardsJohn Wall and Bradley Beal refuse to bow to the beard in this opening series.

Besides that upset, the bracket goes pretty much to Hoyle. Although the Cleveland Cavaliers end up with a No. 7 seed, we all know the new “Big Three” are getting hot at the right time. Kawhi Leonard is awesome, but the San Antonio Spurs are aging and LeBron James will be fueled by the revenge factor.

The Golden State Warriors blaze through the left side, but meet a Cavs team with a leader that’s been there before — suffocating the Warriors cold and taking the title in six.
