5 Free Agents the Detroit Pistons Should Avoid This Offseason

The Detroit Pistons have had a rough time with free agent signings since winning the title in 2004. Stan Van Gundy hasn't been the man in charge for the worst of those signings and will hopefully avoid making any bad moves this offseason. He would be wise to stay away from these five players this summer.

The Pistons and Jeremy Lin were linked in trade rumors this past year, and he will be an unrestricted free agent this summer. Lin is a polarizing player because he has moments where he is really good. The problem is that those moments don't happen very often.

4. Greg Monroe

Detroit shouldn't make re-signing Greg Monroe their top priority. He can be a useful player on the right team, but that team isn't the Pistons. They haven't found a way to make the pairing of Monroe and Andre Drummond work. The Pistons should look to spend the money elsewhere and get a power forward who can stretch the floor.

3. Gerald Green

Gerald Green might seem like a tempting player to sign because of his talent, but he will turn 30 years old next season. If he hasn't figured it all out by now, then it's unlikely he will during his next contract. He could be a good bench player for a contender, but that's not where the Pistons are right now.

2. Omri Casspi

Omri Casspi had a strong finish to the year. He averaged 20 PPG, six RPG and three APG over the final eight games. There will probably be a team that overpays him based on his final month, and it probably won't end well. He would be a good signing for the right price, but due to his age and the strong finish, it is unlikely he will remain a bargain.

Rajon Rondo should be on every team's list of players to be concerned about. He had one of the worst contract years in recent memory, and it'll be interesting to see which team decides to take a gamble on him. He can no longer overcome his inability to shoot, because he isn't as explosive since having knee surgery. It would be a move that the old Pistons front office would make. Hopefully, this current staff won't make the same mistakes.

Pistons' Andre Drummond Hits Floor After Being Rejected By Rim

Andre Drummond did his best Carmelo Anthony impression against the New York Knicks on Saturday night. Drummond went up for a massive dunk and was hilariously rejected by the rim. If that wasn't embarrassing enough, he ended up flat on his butt on the Madison Square Garden hardwood.
