Atlanta Hawks’ Series Win Over Washington Wizards Felt More Like Survival

If the Atlanta Hawks had a song to go along with their thrilling series win over the Washington Wizards, it would be ‘Survivor’ by Destiny’s Child.

This was a close series throughout, as both the Hawks and Wizards traded last-second heroics throughout this series. But in the end, Atlanta had a little more magic than expected. How many times have people questioned Atlanta’s lack of a “go-to” player, only to have one emerge in the end?

But that is not the only reason it felt like the Hawks survived the Wizards. If John Wall would had never injured his hand in Game 2, this series probably would had been a little bit different. Luckily, Atlanta didn’t have to face a healthy Wall, which made life a tad bit easier in this series.

Even without a healthy Wall, life was still hard for the Hawks.  This should make Hawks fans worried about what’s in store against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

But until that series kicks off, Hawks fans should relax and exhale, because the team basically survived this series against the Wizards. Offensive breakdowns, turnovers,  and letting big leads slip away were all present in the series against the Wizards. Atlanta still found a way to come out on top.

If Atlanta doesn’t fix the problems that plagued them against a less-than-100-percent Wizards team, their theme song for the Eastern Conference Finals will be ‘Sitting on the Dock of the Bay’ and they will be watching the NBA Finals instead of playing.

He might never be a star in the NBA, but undoubtedly appears to be a worthwhile rotation piece. This posterization of Al Horford perfectly proves that statement.
