5 Players the Minnesota Timberwolves Should Trade This Offseason

The Minnesota Timberwolves are lottery-bound again this year, after finishing with the league's worst record (16-66).

But there are moves that could be made to help finally turn things around, and here are five Timberwolves that should be the subject of trade talk this offseason.

That Garnett even has a place on this list says a lot, since he played just five games for the Timberwolves after being re-acquired in February and is slated to be a free agent on July 1. Getting him under contract quickly could set up a sign-and-trade, with Garnett as a potential piece in a bigger deal.

Pekovic's contract (three years and $35.8 million remaining) and injury history will make him at best difficult to move. But if the Timberwolves are willing to take on a similarly bad contract, perhaps with a younger player, a deal could get done.

3. F Anthony Bennett

Bennett looks like a bust after being drafted No. 1 overall in 2013. But other teams may think they can help him turn things around, and the Timberwolves would have to listen to trade offers.

2. SF Chase Budinger

Budinger's production is unlikely to match his $5 million salary for next season, but having that lone year remaining on his contract makes him trade bait. Under the assumption he can stay healthy, of course.

Martin is due to make just over $7 million in the final fully guaranteed year on his contract next season, and he has a $7.3 million player option for 2016-17. As a veteran scorer and perimeter shooter that is still relatively in his prime (32 years old), Martin stands out as the Timberwolves' most tradeable asset.
