The Memphis Grizzlies gave it their all, they truly did. But in the end, the Golden State Warriors were just too much for them to handle.
Sure, the Grizzlies gave them a fight at the beginning of the series, a fight that at times caught the Warriors off guard. But over the last three games of the series, Golden State demonstrated why they are the team to beat in the playoffs.
The ball movement, the tough defense, and a backcourt consisting of two of the most deadly shooters in the game, makes the Warriors the complete package in the league. This team basically has no flaws, which must concern the team they will face in the Western Conference finals.
The Grizzlies meanwhile gave Golden State a little bit of a push, but Memphis just didn’t have enough offense to stay step-for-step with the Warriors. Golden State countered Memphis’ inside game with some of the most beautiful passing you will see on this side of the Mississippi River, and exploited the Grizzlies’ lack of outside shooting in the process.
Game 6 was a total team victory, as every member of the Warriors contributed to close out the Grizzlies on their home floor, and give them a little bit of rest. Memphis meanwhile walks into the offseason with a little uncertainty, as Marc Gasol, their rock, will be an unrestricted free agent and could go elsewhere.
That’s not the Warriors’ problem however, as they will be moving one step closer to getting to the NBA finals. Golden State has been on a quest all season long, and they demonstrated in Game 5 that no team will derail them from their date with destiny.
