If you believe you can build a competitor through draft picks, then you might consider Minnesota’s scenario favorable. NBA Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins is about to be joined by the No. 1 overall pick. Although led in scoring by 32-year-old Kevin Martin, the Timberwolves are surrounded by youth, running the court and judging by last season’s 16-66 record, running without direction.

Enter the experential Kevin Garnett.

One more year of Garnett would be like four more years of a good leader running a country. Wiggins alongside either Karl-Anthony Towns, Jahlil Okafor or Justise Winslow would ignite the wing while also defending the perimeter and protecting the rim. The boon of three huge tangibles from just the burden of two contracts. That is, if this future tandem can flourish. Prosperity that just might hinge on the influence of Garnett.
