5 Teams DeMarre Carroll Should Consider Signing With This Offseason

With his 2014-15 season officially over, it is time for Atlanta Hawks forward DeMarre Carroll to begin thinking about where he wants to play basketball next season. After becoming a household name during this year’s playoffs, many teams will likely be interested in signing Carroll to a lucrative deal this offseason. When free agency officially begins later this summer, here are five teams Carroll should consider signing with.

One of the more surprising teams of the 2014-15 season, the Boston Celtics find themselves on the verge of becoming a threat in the Eastern Conference. With a nice core of young players, Carroll could join the Celtics and play the role of a veteran leader who now has valuable playoff experience.

With plenty of money to spend, the No. 4 pick in this year’s draft and Carmelo Anthony already on the roster, the New York Knicks could be an attractive option for DeMarre Carroll this offseason. In a weak Eastern Conference, just a few moves this offseason -- such as signing Carroll -- could make the Knicks a playoff contender next year. It also helps that Carroll reportedly already expressed interest in signing with the Knicks.

Just like the Knicks, the Los Angeles Lakers did not have a very good 2014-15 season, but their fortunes could turn around rather quickly this offseason. After missing the playoffs the last two seasons, the Lakers are poised to go on a free agent spending spree this summer, meaning that Carroll could play basketball for one of the most illustrious franchises in all of sports while making anywhere between $ 9-12 million per season.

2. Toronto Raptors

This past season was a disappointment for the Raptors as they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Wizards. With a backcourt already in place for at least the next few seasons, the Raptors need to now focus on their frontcourt and that could begin with Carroll. During the playoffs, the Raptors struggled shooting as they only shot 30 percent from the outside. In that same span, Carroll shot an impressive 40.3 percent.

While leaving for what seems to be greener pastures is always a tempting idea, sometimes staying where you are is the best choice. Obviously the 2015 NBA Playoffs did not play out as the Hawks may have liked, but there is no reason to think that the team could not get back to the Eastern Conference Finals next season. With the Hawks possessing enough cap space, Carroll could return to Atlanta while also getting a big pay raise.

Nance Jr. Proves White Men Can Jump By Posterizing Horford

Things haven't gone swimmingly for the Los Angeles Lakers this season, but one of very few silver linings they can take away from this lowly campaign is Larry Nance Jr.'s potential. He might never be a star in the NBA, but undoubtedly appears to be a worthwhile rotation piece. This posterization of Al Horford perfectly proves that statement.
