5 Players the Charlotte Hornets Should Consider Trading This Offseason

The Charlotte Hornets were supposed to be one of the up-and-coming powerhouses in the Eastern Conference this season. But a horrible 4-17 start, and a lackluster finish, doomed the Hornets' chances of getting back to the playoffs. Now, Charlotte has major questions in the lineup, and it may take some trades to breathe life into their moribund roster. Here are the five players the Hornets need to consider trading.

Maxiell barely played for the Hornets last season, and he is basically dead weight on this roster. The Hornets need to get rid of him, even if it’s just for a bag of pork rinds.

Williams had his moments last season, but he has yet to fully tap into his potential. I really feel that the Hornets would be better off trading him for a player who can produce on a consistent basis.

3. Troy Daniels

Daniels has some value. He’s young, and with some work, he can be a pretty solid sub. The Hornets, meanwhile, cannot afford to wait on Daniels to reach his potential. They need to have a roster that can compete next year, and Charlotte needs to explore swapping him for an immediate need.

2. Gerald Henderson

This is a tough one, because Henderson was one of the Hornets' most consistent performers last season. So Charlotte can go two ways here: Either keep him or trade him for a player that is a better version of him. If I’m the Hornets, I would pick the latter. Henderson now has tremendous value on the trade market.

1. Lance Stephenson

Boy, was this signing a nightmare. Not only did Stephenson crash and burn in every offensive category, he became a cancer in the locker room, something that a lot of NBA pundits said would happen. It’s now fully clear that he has no future in Charlotte, and the sooner the Hornets can trade him, the better.
