Over the past week speculation has begun surfacing around the league that Miami Heat lifer Dwyane Wade could opt out of his current contract with the team. While many believe that Wade would only do this in order to sign a longer-term deal with the Heat, others believe that he thinking about leaving for another team. If Wade does decide to opt out of his contract and leave the Heat, here are five possible destinations for him to go.

If Dwyane Wade was solely looking to leave Miami in search of more money, then the New York Knicks could certainly be a possible destination. Although he is likely to not find any success on the court in New York, Wade could sign a contract with the Knicks that gives him large chunks of money over the next few years.

Should Dwyane Wade look to leave Miami, a possible destination for him could be the Los Angeles Lakers. Although the Lakers have been in the dumps as of late, Wade and his former Team USA teammate Kobe Bryant could possibly lead the Lakers to one final playoff run -- that is of course if they stay healthy. The Lakers can also offer Wade a ton of money, something that could be attractive to Wade this late in his career.

With a history of chasing big name free agents, the Mavericks could go after Dwyane Wade if he indeed decides to opt-out of his current contract with the Heat. For Wade, Dallas could be an attractive destination for many reasons. Here he could not only secure his future financially, but he could also compete for a championship, while not playing a heavy dose of minutes.

Dwyane Wade may be contemplating opting-out of his current deal in Miami due to money, which would make Chicago an unlikely destination. However, if he opts-out of his deal in hopes of improving his chances at winning a fourth championship, then Chicago would be in play. Chicago offers Wade a chance to win right away, something many other places do not. Also, Chicago is an enticing destination for Wade as it is his hometown.

Back in the summer of 2010, LeBron James left his hometown Cavaliers to join forces with Dwyane Wade down in Miami. Fast forward five years and now it is Wade who could be leaving his home town -- or at least adopted home town -- team to join forces with James. With Kevin Love set to become a free agent at the end of the season, the Cavaliers can not only offer Wade money, but they could also offer him a legitimate chance to win right away.
