Life is a four-letter word. Its byproducts are harsh, unfair, and often unjustified. David Blatt coached his butt off in 2014-15, digging the Cleveland Cavaliers out of an embarrassing 19-20 hole and taking the Cavs just two games from a title in Blatt's year one. Yet the Cavaliers are in a pinch, having learned their lesson from LeBron James' first departure, so if the King wants heads to roll then the axe will fly. Unfortunately the first one to get lopped could be Blatt and it could be in favor of these following five replacements:

5. Tom Thibodeau

The former Chicago Bulls' coach loves his grinders and as witnessed by Cleveland's grueling trek to the 2015 NBA Finals, the Cavaliers are a hard hat and lunchbox crew.

The Cavaliers' possible coaching search could come down to a battle of the Toms. But could Mr. March morph into Mr. June? Izzo once flirted with Cleveland in James' first go-round and by recently signing an extension with Michigan State, it makes one wonder if something preempted that move.

Who isn't itching to get back into coaching more than Mark Jackson? The man just watched his last employer win it all. After probably tearing through multiple tubs of ice cream to hide the pain, Jackson's ultimate antidote would be winning a title in 2016 with King James in Cleveland.

This would be Collins' last shot at the NBA summit. The coach turned television analyst has forgotten more basketball than most NBA minds know and could implement his "seen it all" approach in guiding the Cavaliers.

1. Jeff Van Gundy

Speaking of coaches turned analysts, Van Gundy is the leading candidate from this category. The 2015-16 Cavaliers will likely be loaded and Van Gundy has achieved success with much less star power.
